Orange Cube is a design showroom and office building in the La Confluence quarter of the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, France. It is best known for its orange color and hole-riddled cube shape, which give the structure a distinctive appearance. The building is also nicknamed “La Mimolette,” a reference to the similarly colored cheese. Completed in 2011 at a cost of approximately €12 million, it has an interior area of 4,800 square meters. Orange Cube is the realization of Jakob + Macfarlane’s winning design from a 2005 competition. That competition was intended to create interest in the industrial Confluence area, making the building part of a wider effort to draw attention to the district.
