Liberty Enlightening the World is associated with a group of five Freedom Statues in Paris that resemble the Statue of Liberty in New York, inaugurated in 1886. The Paris installations include models and copies displayed in museums and public spaces. One model is kept at the Musée des Arts et Métiers, together with the 1875 model for the New York version of the statue. Another model, nearly three meters high and created by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi for the 1900 World's Fair, was shown in the Jardin du Luxembourg from 1906 until June 2012 and is now displayed at the Musée d’Orsay at the beginning of the sculpture exhibition in the main hall. A copy has stood in the Jardin du Luxembourg since July 2013. Another 11.50-meter copy stands at the western end of Île aux Cygnes near the Eiffel Tower; it was gifted by American citizens living in Paris in 1889 and faces the direction of the larger statue in New York Harbor. A fifth Statue of Liberty is located at the bow of a barge moored near the Eiffel Tower on the right bank of the Seine.

Multiple Copies of Liberty Enlightening the World in Paris

Several models and copies of Liberty Enlightening the World are displayed in Paris.
