Great Aquarium Saint-Malo is a giant public aquarium established in 1996 at the entrance to the corsair city of Saint-Malo, in the heart of the Malouin basin, in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in Brittany. It is one of the main public aquariums in France and belongs to the European amusement park group Looping Group. The site has a total surface area containing 2.5 million liters of water and includes 46 basins, including the largest basin, excluding the Nautibus attraction. Visitors can observe approximately 600 different marine species presented across ten marine environments. The aquarium receives about one million visitors each year and is among the most visited tourist sites in Brittany, alongside Océanopolis in Brest. It has also received a Thea Award from the Themed Entertainment Association. In 2003, the aquarium helped create the association Mer fragile, which works to raise awareness of threats to the sea and coastlines through public education, school-based activities, clean-up operations, and participation in World Ocean Day.

In 2003, the Grand Aquarium and other partners, including the city of Saint-Malo, created the Mer fragile association. Its work includes operations such as cleaning natural sites, and it also provides education for children within the school framework. Mer fragile additionally takes part in World Ocean Day, which was established in 1992 by the United Nations.
